a wonderful temple located at udupi, Karnataka. Is a tourist attraction when visiting Mangalore. There are many religious beliefs about this temple, the temple has idols of many god and goddess. The Lord Krishna idol is made up with gold and diamonds. The entry is restricted near the idol but one can take the darshan from a window like opening.
this is the main entrance, photography is restricted inside the temple, the walls are inside are made with wood, precious metals, idols of god and goddess scripting ancient stories in pictorial form.
this is located behind the temple, only the priests and brahmins of the temple can dive in this pond.
It is a wonderful place, during evening the walls inside the temple which are made of wood are lit with oil/ghee lamps.
It was truly beautiful experience but due to restriction I was unable to capture the images inside the temple.

Beautiful place @FalguniP !
I’m always very impressed with the designs of these temples. I’ve never seen this kind of pond being a part of a temple before though, so I’m unsure if that is normal or not.
Is the pond sacred since only the priests can go in the water?

Many temples in south part of India have such wonderful art depicting the ancient stories in vibrant colors. They are restored from time to time and cleaned to maintain the heritage.
Infact every temple is built in a way that it holds some stories and importance in Indian culture.
In India there are many temples located on river banks, lake side or have a pond
This pond is sacred and is used by priests and temple people only, you can also see some of them meditating inside the pond they chant the mantras and dive inside.

I guess the Rath yaatra are during the festival time only cause the time when I visited there was no Rath Yatra… but I saw bhajans being sung by group with traditional musical instruments it gave a positive vibe

I’ve noticed this about the stories in the artwork of the different temples @FalguniP , and it is seriously impressive that they were able to do this all by hand.
It’s good that they are taking good care of the structures. National heritage like this is very important to keep alive for the generations to come.

Indeed @MortenSI
Indian heritage and structure built with art work are preserved and maintained very well as the depict the story of India and the Beliefs. Some structures are made in such a way that the natural sunlight provides light to temples. There is a lot to explore
I will surely share my experience as and when I visit to wonderful places.

Yes please do @FalguniP , it would be great to learn more about these temples.
How they managed to create these structures so detailed without the use of modern day technology is beyond me but I find it really interesting.

Yes @MortenSI
It is really fascinating to see that the artist worked hard and created every masterpiece with all the details… even though it took them years to create they did it with such a precision and care.
Really want to explore all of them.

Patience was a very different term back then @FalguniP . With all the shortcuts and modern technology we have available now, very few people would have the patience to accomplish something like this.

Yes you are right @MortenSI
We lack the patience the earlier people had
I will soon come up with more amazing places.
The artists surely deserve to be recognized and appreciated.
