Spreading the joy of exploring nature in the city, as a google local guide!

I am Pulkit, a google local guide since late 2016. At that time I lived in the small district of Jind, Haryana. Checking facts on google maps and suggesting corrections was exciting, especially for my local area!

18 months ago we moved to the city of New Delhi: a new place, new surroundings. It took time to get used to it.

My growing attachment to environmental issues (I am doing Masters in Environment studies??) and photography? helped me to explore nature in and around the city. Bulbuls, ducks, starlings, bee-eaters, drongos, kingfishers; it was surprising to me that so many species of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and flowers could be found in parks and forested areas existing within the city. So far, the most interesting photo I shared on google maps is that of a Red Naped Ibis inside the Lodhi Garden.

It has already received 900+ views in a month! Photos are a powerful way to share your experience. The joy you get on seeing your photos and reviews being seen by people cannot be understated.

Green spaces keep us healthy, fit and provide peace of mind. People love to go to parks and forests. Exploring uncommon floral and faunal diversity just adds up to the natural experience. The connection, the emotion we feel with other species is not dissimilar to what we feel with other human beings. I want people to connect with nature and explore them. There might be something waiting to be explored and revered in your own local park or forest. Let’s explore it ? !!
