Have you ever tried to choose a movie with your Spouse? Well, that is us regular when deciding on dining options. My love for the small, independent, ethnic eateries vs. his quest for the perfect burger or wings can be a challenge. As far as he goes, a Pub is ethnic.
So here is my story.
Me: Works in the Hospitality Industry surrounded by delicious food all day, every day.
Husband: Trucker / Biker / Farmboy
Thank GOODNESS that bare wood tables with a hint of industrial have become the chic of dining. For a decade, my suggesting any place with a tablecloth got an automatic “Why are you always picking fancy places?” Thanks to this change in decor, dining has become a whole lot better for me the last few years. Luring him into hot spots with the most incredible of bar rails under the pretense of “They have the best fried chicken in the region”. aka The Grand Trunk Saloon in Kitchener, has become my own personal little side game. Pick a spot, and figure out how I’m going to spin my suggestion into something he’s going to want to try.
All your photos come in handy in my decisions. Thank you for that. I get to see the portion sizes you post. I’ve had one too many plates put in front of him with a look up at me and a “Really?” That doesn’t happen anymore. Google reviews to the rescue. One shouldn’t have to study as much as I do before I go out, but when you are trying to please two totally different dining tastes, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. One thing, I have got him totally addicted to fish tacos! He can’t believe he loves them himself! You can teach a dog new tricks.
So when you see me post a review, you know a lot of work went into that dining decision. And that it is Trucker approved. Unless of course I’ve posted a photo with the “Girls”…that means I didn’t even try to get him there!
This Valentine’s past, my Husband took me to The Olde Schoolhouse Restaurant in Brantford. There are table clothes there. I know he loves me.
Happy Dining!
