Aromatic, pungent, spicy, and many other words have been used to describe this rhizome-storing gingerol that has been discovered to be helpful to man. Originally from Asia, it is now grown in various continents, including Africa. It is worth noting that Nigeria is the largest producer of ginger in Africa, and second only to India in the world. This root product is derived from the Zingiber officinale plant, which is related to turmeric and is grown in Northern Nigeria, particularly Kaduna. However, the grade of ginger grown in Nigeria has been proved to be spicier than the type grown in other Asian nations such as Malaysia and Singapore, as my Malaysian cousin attests to and has always ordered ginger from Nigeria.

This miracle root has been verified to have medicinal capabilities by medical giants like John Hopskins due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. However, traditional herbal therapists have traditionally recognized ginger as an active agent in resolving cough, catarrh, nausea, and other symptoms since ginger despises lingering and hence flushes food out in the digestive system.
