Sphatik Shila a White Rock.

Sphatik Shila, Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, India.

I feel fortunate to reach new places to visit, where valuable heritage created by nature and created by humans are present.

There is a white rock called Sphatik Shila located on the banks of Mandakini river in Chitrakoot. I was captivated by the attractive, breathtaking and beautiful environment there.
This rock is mentioned in the Sunderkand ( Aranya Kand) of the Hindu religious text Ramcharitra Manas. Highlighting its religious significance, the priest present there said that Lord Rama himself was adorning Sita with forest flowers on this rock during his exile, when Jayant, the son of Indra, became a crow and injured Sita by pecking at her toe. Later he was punished by Lord Rama by his bow and instead of arrow a Neem Stalk since then Crow is one eyed. This legend stands true how far I don’t have any evidence but this Rock is special as such kind of stone is not available in the vicinity, it’s of its own kind.
This Rock bears some footprints said to be of Mata Sita and knees print of Lord Rama. This is a popular tourist and devotees attraction. Surroundings views are extremely panoramic. Lot of monkeys and few hawkers selling the dry berry powder of Shabri.
