Specials of Vung Tau City, VietNam

Located in the South of Viet Nam, 125 km away from Ho Chi Minh, Vung Tau is now considered the most popular destination for weekends from Ho Chi Minh. Vung Tau lies on a peninsula separated from the mainland by a gulf river called Co May river.

To most tourists in Vietnam travel, Vung Tau is one of the most interesting destinations and loved for its extensive beaches. Tourists always prefer sightseeing at Front Beach (Bãi Trước) and going swimming in Back Beach (Bãi Sau).

This is the border of the South and the West of Vietland, where we can see the sun on the East Sea, both sunrise and sunset.

There are two mountains in the coastal city of Vung Tau: Big Mountain (Nui Lon) and Small Mountain (Nui Nho).

Need to say, it is the biggest Jesus Christ statue in Asia and the second tallest one only after his cousin in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Standing imposingly on the top of the Nho Mountain (Small Mountain) in Vung Tau City, the 32-meter statue was originally built in 1974 at an altitude of 170 meters facing the sea. It was not until 1994 that the statue was completely finished and firstly welcomed as a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that has ever had in Vung Tau in particular and in Vietnam in general.

Once standing in front of the Jesus statue, you can imagine a giant stretching his hands out to hold you as it is 32 meters high and extending hands is 18.3 meters long putting in parallelepiped with a bas-relief of Christ and his 12 disciples, a replica of the painting “The party of separation” by one of the famous artist in the Renaissance Era whose name is Leonardo da Vinci.

Bạch Dinh (The White Palace), one of Vũng Tàu City’s most popular historic sites, attracts more than 200 foreign and local visitors every day.

In Vũng Tàu, five historic relics, such as Bạch Dinh (White Palace) and Thích Ca Phật Đài Pagoda (Theravada Buddhist), are often open to the public free of charge and need to be restored.

Bạch Dinh, one of the city’s most popular destinations, was built as a retreat for French Governor General Paul Doumer in 1898. It is located on the site of a Nguyễn Dynasty fortress and has beautiful views along the coast.
It was a penitentiary during the reign of King Thành Thái between 1906 and 1917. The palace displays many objects in porcelain and wood.

Thích Ca Phật Đài Pagoda is located on five hectares of land in the northwest of Lớn (Large) Mountain and was built in 1961.
It includes a 10.2 metre-statue of Gautama Buddha sitting on a lotus. The pagoda attracts thousands of tourists from home and abroad every year.

Perched at the top of the Nui Nho/Small Mountain (which is more like hill), the French-built Vung Tau Lighthouse (Ngon hai dang Vung Tau) is still operational and gives visitors a 360-degree vista of the city and sea.
