I went for breakfast at Symphony, Ramada Chennai Egmore a four star property and found this place aims to be the kind of place that feels like stepping into a friends 'home. Necessary Provisions is everything you’d want from a fine dining. Surreal lighting, dark walls, streaming sunlight, plants, gorgeous bakes, killer Kaapi, and juices on tap. You should just try everything on buffet, and don’t miss out on their Paper Dosa.
South Indian Filter Coffee (Kaapi)
It was around 6:45 AM I have visited the restaurant and fount its almost empty and light music was playing. I asked the waiter to make me 4 glasses of South Indian Filter Coffee (Kaapi) and put all into a Mug and serve as normally Kaapi served in small glass which I usually finish in 2-3 sip. Waiter understand my requirement and made me exactly what I wanted.
At 7:10 AM I don’t know how restaurant gets completely crowded. Everyone eating, talking, kids running around almost a full house. I request the waiter I want to sit beside swimming pool and will it be possible for him to serve me 4-5 vegetarian dishes there (yes Sadly I am little religious and I don’t touch non veg on Saturday) which he gladly accept.
Medu Vada
I started off with the authentic Medu Vada which is crispy, fluffy vada topped with grated coconut sprinkles. A perfect start with their for crispy yet fluffy, savoury lentil “donuts” served with side of chutneys.
Plain Idly
Then I have soft and spongy, salty and sweet, fluffy Idly and it is loaded with just the right amount of freshness, accompanied with hot Sambar, Coconut Chutney, Onion Tomato Chutney, Groundnuts Chutney gives you four different taste once you dip on each.
Idiyyappam
I will advice all to go for the Idiyyappam, with fresh curd and sugar in place of curries. Idiyyappam will taste something completely different you have even imagined. The sweetness of the sugar is balanced out nicely by the zippiness of the yoghurt, making for an incredibly satisfying dish.
Paper Dosa
Make sure you don’t leave without trying the traditional Paper Dosa, deliciously spiced mashed potato is encased within a paper thin, crispy rolled shell made extra fragrant by ghee, and served with turmeric-based sambar, onion tomato chutney, groundnuts chutney and coconut coriander chutney.
Chole Bhature
Another favourite of mine is the fragrant and spicy Chole Bhature, just think white chickpeas douses within tangy north Indian curry which pairs amazingly well with soft Bhature.
