I have really enjoyed the value that the Local Guides program has brought to the Google community. Without it, it would be much more difficult for people to get around in a new area. That’s why I started contributing to the community.
Most of my experiences with the program have been mundane, but one has struck me as completely odd! So a while back I began playing around with the feature to add pictures to reviews. It’s a neat way to showcase a location. It also allows folks to see what a place really looks like, not just the professional perfect looking shots that look nothing like the place.
Well, I was going to a religious service for one of my nephews and in a moment of boredom shot a pic of the outside of the church and tossed it up on Local Guides. Most of my pictures get seen a handful of times, but this picture has received multiple thousands of views! I have been absolutely blown away by this. The fact that a silly little picture can connect me to tens of thousands of people really shows the reach this amazing program has.
