One of the important things to know to improve a place. Even if it doesn’t earn you any points or views.
For places I know well in my city or elsewhere in Switzerland
, I sometimes report images as not corresponding to the place.
It’s easy to do. Just go to a photo, click on the 3 little dots → Report a problem → Not a photo or video of the place.
It takes 5 seconds and really help to improve the informations about a place.
Suggestion for Google to improve this feature : when you report a place, make possible that you can chose the real place of the photo or video belongs to and win points for that.
When you report a duplicate location, for example, we earn points.
Have you ever reported an image or video in Google Maps?

I did so many times, but never noticed the photo was really removed
We don’t get a response anyway, not always, but sometimes, I checked later and they all still existed ..
Nevertheless, I agree with you, @christophesubilia there too many photos not at the correct place.

Thank you @WilfriedB !
Unfortunately, I’ve had a similar experience. Some images tend to remain and sometimes in the top positions.
However.. when a duplicate location is reported you win points and you can see the statut.

Thank you for the tip @christophesubilia, I sometimes see photos that are not correlated to the location. Keep up the good work and hope to see you one day in Switzerland!

Vollkommen sinnlos @christophesubilia

Thank you for the feedback @Erna_LaBeau and yes I hope to n’est local guides in Switzerland
If Google Maps started handing out points for flagging photos as wrong place, I would expect this could be misused by less serious Maps User’s just to earn points. Or by ill-minded business owners wanting to hurt the listings of their competitors.

Kein historisches Kontorhaus in Sicht.

Thank you very much for your input @MortenCopenhagen ! I completely agree with you about the abuse of quick points.
But I was thinking about a validation by Google, like when you change the opening hours of a place.
Only if it has been approved by Google, the are points recorded at that moment.

I’m very good again, brother, I’m going through what you’re describing, and I’m reporting if there’s a discrepancy between the space and the visual. :türkiye:

Update: If you go to your profile on Google Maps and scroll down to the bottom, you will find the section “Others contributions” → Reports.
You will find all your reports here. I noticed that many of my requests have been accepted by Google.
Again, why not earn points once Google has validated the report?

@christophesubilia Thank you for sharing this tip.
After moving here to Canada, I have been using this feature a lot, mainly because people post personal photos of themselves, and often with children, in these spaces.

Thats a very good job @GasparKaren !
What I’ve also noticed is that more touristy a city is, the more mistakes there are with bad pictures on a place.
Well done for reporting them if there are humans around, especially children.

As of now, I don’t think any validation is being done.

Yes @MortenCopenhagen there is a validation by Google on Maps :
If you go to your profile on Google Maps and scroll down to the bottom, you will find the section “Others contributions” → Reports.
You will find all your reports here. Accepted or rejected
Do those include flagged photos for the wrong place?

@MortenCopenhagen yes if you go on your report you can see one by one flagged pictures.
With 2 status:
Content not removed
Content remove
It’s around 50/50 remove/not remove in my situation.
