[RECAP] #AccessibleBengal-08-Diagnostic and eye care centre: Mohanpur, Nadia”
The West Bengal Local Guides (WBLG) continued their #AccessibleBengal mission to update the accessibility details of places in West Bengal on Google Maps. In August, @PritishB visited an eye care center to check how accessible the entrance, hallways, and parking area were. He made sure to add descriptive captions of the photos he shared on Maps, letting visitors know what to expect. That’s certainly helpful!

Last month, @Mohammadalauddin hosted the fifth and sixth meet-ups of his #AccessibilityBD series. He was joined by @AbdullahAM and @MukulR, and together they checked the accessibility features of a popular planetarium and a park in Bangladesh. In a very special edition of the Accessibility Uncovered Webinar, hosts @EmekaUlor and @Zuhralc invited five prominent accessibility advocates to share their stories. In the recap, we learn how @ermest, @Tejal, @FaridTDF, @AnshukMitra, and @ShafiulB got into accessibility and how Connect changed their lives. Their experiences are a testament to the different ways Local Guides can find their passion through the program.

“[RECAP] Ocean Guides - Turtle Conservation Meet-up”
The love for the ocean and the underwater world brought together three Local Guides from Sri Lanka and Indonesia— @ravindus , @kasunaaa , and @indahnuria . They gave themselves the catchy name Local Guides Seal Team and recently hosted their first meet-up. It was about sea turtle conservation and the biggest challenges these sea creatures face because of human activity. The #StateChallege recently celebrated an amazing milestone: 50 weeks of learning more about the United States and the world through fun and games (literally!). This occasion also marked the start of a new branch of the challenge, the #AwarenessChallenge. @Erna_LaBeau shared the recap of the first meet-up that aimed to raise awareness about ocean preservation. “RECAP Virtual Meet-up Jakarta Local Guides Toys Charity”
For National Children’s Day in Indonesia, Local Guide @Ddimitra organized a toy donation for a local non-profit organization. She hosted a virtual meet-up where a representative talked about the organization’s social activities, which included providing free education for children. With the help of the Jakarta Local Guides, Devi managed to collect all kinds of toys in just one week. Learn more about this initiative in her recap.
