All of sudden some of my photo contributions are marked as “Unknown Place”. This is discouraging and demotivating especially when a place has a considerable view count.
I have searched the forum and many people have faced a similar issue, but no resolution yet.
If a POI is renamed/recreated, there should be an option to remap the existing photo to the new POI.
The above were mapped to https://goo.gl/maps/HS5MorWxPjD8VW5c9. I believe someone deleted the existing POI and recreated it. which caused the existing photo contributions to void.

Well, looks like you already know the answer, @AtifGulzar : if a POI has been deleted from Maps, the link between the photo and the location is broken, and the photo appear to be associated to an Unknown Place.
The same happens if a photo was added during the creation of a POI, and the POI was not approved.
I perfectly understand the frustration. It happened to me too, and I wrote an idea about that.
However, there is no way for a photo of being moved from a listing to another by Maps. Actually, what you can do is only to delete the old photo and to upload the new one.
This kind of issue is unfortunately the results of bad practices, like flagging a place as Not Exists, instead of Closed or Duplicate.
Regarding your specific contributions, I have however to add that some of your photo should be removed too, because added in places (areas, cities, district) where there is not a button for adding the photos. This is against the rules to, and should be fixed
Since @ErmesT answered your question, I will mark his comment as a solution. We do this for a better visibility in case someone else has a similar doubt. More information about it is available here.
You said*: The above were mapped to https://goo.gl/maps/HS5MorWxPjD8VW5c9. I believe someone deleted the existing POI and recreated it. which caused the existing photo contributions to void.*
The oldest review in that place is nine years old, so most probably you added your photo on a duplicate. I can see that the photos were added recently, even if taken long time ago (October 2006 in your example). This apply both to the ones related to “Unknown places” than to others related to POIs, or to locations where you should not add photos. Photos that I ask you again to remove
This is exactly the problem. What is the solution? Losing a photo with some considerable view count is discouraging and demotivating.
When I had added that Photo I must have evaluated which POI has more views and is more relevant. So what are the criteria for deleting a POI? So any POI can be just be deleted and make all your contributions void. That is heartbreaking.
According to Maps, that photo, taken in October 2006, was uploaded 9 months ago, @AtifGulzar .
You said “When I had added that Photo I must have evaluated which POI has more views and is more relevant. So what are the criteria for deleting a POI?”.
In this case a POI should not be deleted. The correct thing to do is to “merge” the two POIs, to keep the contributions of both when there is a duplicate.
However, many Local Guides doesn’t know the right procedure, and someone think that the best way to act is to “remove the one I didn’t contribute to”. This is totally wrong, but unfortunately it may happen. If you find a duplicate, you should try to fix it first, before to contribute.
I would like to ask you also to pay attention to the other part of my reply, because contributing in a non appropriate way can end in much more than loosing some photo view, as you can loose your whole account
