Some interesting things to see from Satellite Map

Have you ever looked at the map of your areas? I look at Satellite Google map for Cambodia and found something interesting things. Many remarkable places similar to the shapes of animals or maybe I presume?

Beoung Yak Loam lake

Yak Loam lake is a crater lake that is circular in shape, with 750m length and width with the depth of 48m. It is believed to be a result of volcanic eruption some 4,000 years ago (rare in Cambodia). It is the top tourist destination of Ratanakiri Province, north-eastern Cambodia. It is located just about 5 km south of Banlung Municipality. I have walked around the lake before, it took about 30-40mns on foot as we stopped many times for photos. In this province, there are few more lakes that looks amazing from above too, that is Beoung Kanseng and Beoung Komsan.

Great Lake**** or Tonlé Sap lake

This lake is very impressive and is seen everywhere in the map. It is the biggest lake in Cambodia. It is a seasonally inundated freshwater lake has 120 km width, 2,700 km² coverage, with total of 250 km length that connects the lake to the Mekong River with Tonle Sap river. From above, it looks like some animals, ant?

Phnom Thbaeng Meanchey

Phnom Thabeng Meanchey is in Preah Vihear province, about 3hours drive from Siem Reap province. It is the natural heritage site, about 400m heights. The mountain is categorized as Natural Heritage Park and is very big which covers 25,269.41Ha. From satellite view, it looks a lot like the cat sleeping.

The cat shape of a lake is indeed surprising @Sophia_Cambodia though it is normal for crater lakes to be near perfectly circular in shape.

Great discoveries from the maps :+1:

Did you know about the famous lake Titicaca in S.America which is also the shape of a cat?

The word Titicaca means a cat in the local Indian language and they have been using this word for thousands of years leaving researchers to wonder how they knew that the shape is like a cat?

So it is believed that ancient aliens landed here a long time ago descending from space and they told the locals about the shape.

Interesting… isn’t it?

Interesting, indeed @TusharSuradkar thank you for pointing that out. It is fascinating to know how they knew about the shape when they did not have Map, or drone to look at them at all.

You are, right @Sophia_Cambodia … many of those images will remind you of some animals, like cat, pigeon and even naga or the dragon.

I was wondering what shape I will discover looking at Indonesia with satellite view.

Interesting story indeed @TusharSuradkar … I read a book a long time ago about this possibility of having aliens visiting us thousands years ago. I guess many similar legends or stories will leave us wondering about their origins

That’s right @indahnuria it is amazing how we compare the map to those animals, there can’t be denied as it looks really similar. Even the map of Cambodia as a whole country also looks like cat.
