Some Digital Photography Concepts You Have To Know

Hello, fellow Local Guides!
I hope you are all doing great! As a Local Guide, we all love photography and want to share our best photos on Google Maps and this beautiful community. For that reason, I’m going to share Some Digital Photography Concepts you have to know for taking better pictures and improve photography skills.

  • Aperture: Aperture is the opening that controls how much light passes through the lens to enter the camera.
  • ISO: ISO is the level of sensitivity of our camera to available light.
  • Shutter Speed: Shutter Speed is the amount of time the shutter remains open to allow light to reach the image sensor.
  • Focal Length: The Focal Length (FL) is the distance between the focal point and the image sensor when the subjects are in focus.
  • Depth of Field: Depth of Field (DoF) refers to the range of distance that is in acceptable focus.
  • Exposure: Exposure is the control of the amount of light the image sensor can capture.
  • Bokeh: Bokeh is the quality of the out-of-focus blur that makes it look like the subject is isolated from the background.

Thank you for reading this post. Hope this post will be helpful for you.

As I already told you, it is difficult for me to understand this series of post @ShahMdSultan

I’m sorry, and you know how much I like what you do on the community, but I believe that the value of Connect is “what we do”.

So, while I can find the same explanation in internet, I am curious about the application of that words. What transform a word in a concept?

Let’s talk about one of the concept you mentioned.

Depth of Field: Depth of Field (DoF) refers to the range of distance that is in acceptable focus.

What does it means for me, as a Local Guide? It means that I can focus on a different way. here below an example of two photos of the same dish with a very short depth of field and different focus.

As you can see, playing with the focus we can move the attention from one subject to another.

Do you have some tip for us about the other points?
