Solo Travelers: Let's scratch each other's back!

The Spanish expression “Hoy por tí, mañana por mí” is the core reason why I contribute to Google Maps as a local guide. I didn’t take seriously being a Local Guide until I started travelling by my own. I love planning my trips because I am always on a budget, and planning helps me to select the best and yet economic places to stay, to visit, and to have food at. The first time I planned a trip, I relied on the experiences of local guides to make my itinerary and reservations. The recommendations and warnings in the reviews and the pictures uploaded by the guides helped me a lot. After my trip, Google asked me about my experience and I thought I should give back what I received from free . From that moment on, I haven’t stopped travelling, reviewing places, and uploading pictures.

Having a Local Guide community is very important for solo travelers, because the support that we can find in people that like travelling like us is not comparable with the input from people that are not interested in guiding others via Google maps.

As a solo traveler, I have found that my favorite activity to do is to visit museums. Going to a museum with friends is fun, but in order to capture the artist point of view, I need my time with the piece of art. I love also taking pictures of the museums I visit.

I not only like taking pictures of nature but also enjoy taking pictures of mundane things to show their wit and beauty. At the end of the day, I am just an observer of the beauty or creativeness contained in these places and am willing to share my perception of them, I might be scratching other’s person back, but tomorrow my back could be the one scratched.
