Today, I embarked on a solo exploration of Amika’s Hotel in Madurai as part of the #LocalGuides10 celebrations. Focusing on “Exploring with Responsibility,” I specifically delved into the hotel’s accessibility features.
I was impressed by Amika’s commitment to inclusivity. From wheelchair-accessible entrances to almost every amenity, they’ve clearly considered the needs of all guests. The specially designed rooms with wider entrances and bathrooms, along with the availability of in-house wheelchairs and assistance, further demonstrated their dedication.
I also interacted with the hotel staff, appreciating their warm welcome and willingness to discuss accessibility improvements. I suggested adding a Braille-friendly menu, which they readily agreed to implement.
This experience highlights the importance of responsible exploration – not just documenting places but also ensuring they are accessible and welcoming to everyone.
