Today June 21 is Sunday, International Day of the Solstice Celebration. It may sound foreign to some people.
What is a solstice day?
Solstice day is a day where the day will feel longer in the northern hemisphere or the shortest night throughout the year.
The solstice marks the start of summer in the northern hemisphere and the start of winter in the southern hemisphere.
By chance June 21, 2020 there is also the phenomenon of the Ring Solar Eclipse, in Indonesia can also enjoy this phenomenon and because it coincides with the Solstice then the Eclipse .
This time the sun was named the Ring of Solar Eclipse. And you know?the last Solastic Ring of Fire phenomenon occurred on June 21, 1648 and will be repeated on June 21, 2039, or 19 years later.
Earlier I tried to photograph the phenomenon and the result is like the photo below.
The sun in some countries is traditionally celebrated, such as in India when the solstice day is celebrated by conducting mass Yoga sessions. They do this for happiness, for love, for strength, for forgiveness and to correct past mistakes (CNN Indonesia source).
General The Solstice Celebration is symbolizing soil fertility, agriculture and food production systems and cultural heritage.
It is really an interesting day, right mba @AnikSetyawati … too bad in Jakarta we cannot see the eclipse but again I am happy to celebrate it with others in different part of the world
Personally, I haven’t seen many people in saudi Arabia performing Yoga . I do home workouts for atleast 15 minutes a day and complete 15K steps daily. I hope one day I will have the chance to learn some yoga workouts, do you perform yoga workouts @AnikSetyawati
Lovely photo! At what time did you take this photo?
In Finland, during the summer period, we have this so called ‘night less nights’ or just summer nights, where it’s light almost during the entire night. It only gets dark at around 11 pm - 02 am and it’s not even black, just a bit dark blue.
It’s my favorite season and it can be quite challenging for people who aren’t used to such light days all the time.
I took the photo at 3 pm Indonesia time, actually the peak of the Ring Solar Eclipse, but because I took the picture only with my cellphone camera, it was just like the results I got.
It was very fortunate for those who live in the northern hemisphere because they can feel a very long day.
Thank you @DanniS for sharing from Finland with us here and thank you for your attention
