So I found this social justice warrior's review...........what do you think?

Arc’teryx is a premium outdoor brand. Its latest retail store will be opening in Auckland, New Zealand. Currently the store is under construction. However I found a review:

The context: The fact the Local Guide wrote is correct.

The Questions:

  • Is the review right?

  • Is it an authentic experience?

  • Can a Local Guide leave the same review for another branch?

  • If it’s not right, what should we do, and what can we do?

@MortenCopenhagen @KashifMisidia

I am sure you have seen these multiple times in the past. I raise this question not particularly on the business side, but rather on the Google Maps review side. We have to keep the brand…

Hi @OliverKIWI

Reviews need to be based on real, first hand experiences from the particular branch. And duplicating text across reviews are not allowed.

Further, places can not be reviewed prior to the opening.

@OliverKIWI, As the store is not yet open, you can edit the POI and mark the place as ‘Not open to the public’.

@OliverKIWI, A store under construction cannot receive valid customer reviews. Reviews are not a place for general grievances. You can flag the review by clicking the three dots and reporting it.

Same review should not be repeated. It becomes a duplicate and spam.

What mean here is…since this review is so irrelevant, the LG can post it to other store as well… @PrasadVR not we re-post it:)

@OliverKIWI The content appears to be a grievance. Using Maps reviews for social commentary or grievance falls under off-topic content.

I have reported this! @PrasadVR

Agreed! @MortenCopenhagen I have reported this!

Spot on, @OliverKIWI
This review has nothing to do with a genuine, firsthand customer experience at the Auckland store and reads more like an online protest or AI-generated copy-paste about a global event.

Maps reviews should reflect actual visits and personal experiences, not general internet news. Since this breaks the core principles of authentic feedback, reporting it is definitely the right step to maintain platform integrity.
Thanks for highlighting this discussion!

@KashifMisidia Thank you.

This is a total abuse of the power as a Google Maps user/Local Guides. It will damage our brand.
