Small Things That Matter Much

While clicking pictures of a shop, restaurant or a place of interest, quite often I end up clicking some the most boring yet interesting and informative pictures of the info board;) Sometimes I wonder if all these details are already available online or maybe not, thereby made it my mini mission to share it on Maps;) It may be an info pasted on the side wall of a shop or a placard just announcing the arrival of a new item or an announcement board at an entrance of a museum which many pass by without reading or an interesting quip on a restaurant menu, small details that sometimes reveal the character of the place. ‘Stressed’ when read backwards is ‘Desserts’ inviting patrons to chill out at a cake shop, ‘Fixed Price’ tag will make you put a temp hold to all the bargaining skills;) Hanging board ‘Cash Only’ with the word ‘ATM’ below with an arrow pointing at a direction, three different languages local, national and global of a shop timing are some examples. Pictures of info that helps pin down details that are a visual proof from the location concerned which puts to rest all speculative answers. Here’s a sample set of pics below:

Seven sleepy islands, a dowry and a £10 rent. Did you know that these seven islands had an ancient name called Heptnesia? That’s what I learnt from this museum board:) Under Ashoka The Great, conquered by sultans of Gujarat, wrestled by the Portuguese, given as a dowry to the British who rented it to the East India co. for £10 and later renamed in the 20th century, derived from the Goddess of Kolis, Mumbadevi ! Welcome to megapolis Mumbai!

The Paradesi synagogue built in mid-1500s is a functioning synagogue through the centuries and preserves a unique record of Jewish presence in India. It is located in Kochi, Kerala India.
