Slowly but surely have I made progress as a local guide on Google maps. This user-friendly platform has been guiding me to share my experiences and opinions. Whatever place I have reviewed or answered questions about, I have always written in English, unconsciously targeting an English-speaking traveler who needs some help in the middle of Europe. I haven’t shared a lot of photos though, but the ones I have, have turned out to be viewed a lot of times.
Funnily enough, but sometimes I receive responses to my comments from PR representatives of the businesses I have visited and reviewed. It is great to know that companies care about how they look on Google maps.
What I like best about being a local guide, is writing about a place unheard or almost unheard of, like in the middle of nowhere, posting photos previously unseen on the maps. And then, when Google sends you an email stating how many times this has been viewed, it gives me a great feeling of usefulness and connection with people I will never see in my life.
Having lived in rural France not for a long time, I still have lots of places to visit and discover. It’s a touristic area that livens in summer, especially around the lake of St. Point. I look forward to it, as well as making my small contributions by reviewing and uploading pictures of places that have touched my heart.
