I originally come from Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, but have been living in Sumbawa island for about 8 years by now. In Sumbawa, West Sumbawa Regency particularly, small businesses have been flourishing so rapidly. While some people are on their career track in a mining site, some others find very promising and prospective businesses that suit their preference of making a living. A job that does not hold them in an office from 9-5 or make them follow working rosters that might be against their talent or their passion.
I am very confident and excited about sharing small businesses in my own neighbourhood onto Google Maps. What makes me so confident is that I usually know the owners of the business, have been witnessing the way they start the business from the scratch and know most of their stories, their ups and downs in running the business and celebrate their success with the loudest cheers.
Telling the stories of people that I know, whom I interact with during my daily life make me feel like an author; as if I write my own story, make a prolog, create plots, conflicts and epilog to the story of people I know very well.
I am also excited about sharing their business stories because they are just ordinary people like me. People who sometimes are frustrated at ways to earn enough money so that they can meet their needs. People who cry and laugh without camera flashing in front of them. they are just ordinary people. Ordinary people who sells donuts, so they can make trends at a new way to enjoy donuts. Ordinary people who sells bubur ayam, siomay and batagor so that Jakartan people can still enjoy these food while away from home. Ordinary people who can bring hope to the unemployed neighbours of theirs by employing them.
Those ordinary people who make extra ordinary impact on other people’s lives make a town more exciting to live in.
