Small business and helping them succeed in an Amazon world

Amazon is the 2-ton gorilla in the room. It crushes huge businesses like Pay-Less Shoes and other department store behemoths as it becomes more and more of an ever-encroaching aspect of our daily purchasing habits. So, how does a small business succeed when all others seem to fall to Amazon?

Local guides.

I run a marketing agency and I’ve learned that regardless of the latest tech or fashion, people will still always make a purchase based on the concept of a positive experience. This is the reason reviews work. People want to share a positive experience, and they will even take the word of a stranger. In fact, 70+% will make a purchase after reading a positive review.

So, the reason that I love being a local guide is the same reason I love running my company, you can help small businesses get their name out there, help others find them and share those positive experiences they provide.

I encourage you to support your local business, not just by shopping there, but also reviewing them, sharing pictures, inviting your friends and family, and help others see how truly unique and special local business is.

Yes @Dave_Makin , I do agree with you. I was a member of meet-up held in Delhi in last weekend and we’ve updated many local places on google maps. It gives me more energy when I found a missing place in google maps. Uploading a picture on business will be more helpful to others to get it recognized quickly.

Good day

Hello @Dave_Makin ,

Please be informed that I am going to relabel your post to Local Stories, as this is the place where you can share your stories how you are improving Google Maps.

By the way, actively participating in Local Guides with more than one account is against our rules and policy. Doing so will result in the removal of one if not all accounts and may result in a permanent ban from the LG program.
