I wanted to share this gorgeous, massive head of an Annabelle hydrangea to show off its incredible scale this season. I used my hand for size comparison, but it seems the Google Maps automated system is a little… “soft in the head” right now.
Instead of seeing a beautiful piece of nature, the AI filter threw a complete policy violation fit over “explicit content”! Apparently, pale pink skin tones plus round floral curves equal a global emergency according to the algorithm.
I’m thinking about compiling a digital lookbook of the funniest, most ridiculous “AI False Positives” we’ve all experienced to raise a bit of awareness (and maybe some laughs) for a good cause.

“Our systems sometimes make mistakes. If you think that your content should be published, you can submit an appeal. You can always edit and resubmit your content.”
It means that you have 2 options:
Edit your review, deleting your photo, and maybe replacing it with another one.
Tks E I have submitted an appeal last time for the dragon fly it was refused I await for the Hide-rangea and yes I will lose the arm and maybe place a nice angled google sign there
By the way @ErmesT, while we are talking about system quirks, do you know why my photo captions counter is frozen at zero points right now, and why the system keeps randomly swapping my custom text with automated labels like ‘bridge with stonework’? Is there a known sync bug going on right now? Thanks!
This has been a point debated in Connect for a very long time.
Your Captions are perfect, and ADA complaint.
They’ve been available on Google Maps for a long time, and I use them sometimes, too, because they’re useful for visually impaired people. But they don’t give points, even if, IMHO, they should.
More recently, Google Maps created another feature, available for mobile devices: Photo Update. Here, we’re invited to add a description to our photo, for which we receive 10 points for the photo(s) + 5 points for the “caption”.
The choice of name was, in my opinion, very unfortunate, as Caption was a feature already in use and known for describing “all” of our photos, in compliance with ADA regulations.
There have been many discussions about this in the past, and a half-promise to resolve this issue precisely to avoid misunderstandings and questions like the ones you’re asking now. A half-promise, unfortunately, that hasn’t yet been fulfilled.
