Skialp near Venice to admire sunset above the clouds

The closure of the ski lifts due to the coronavirus pushed me to try skialp. So with friends I went up Pianezze, a small mountain not far from Venice (Italy). Indeed, we wanted climb it to admire the sunset and the city of Venice in the background.

We started our climb in a sunny afternoon, along a path in the woods.

Going up, as the vegetation was over, the sun disappeared and we had to climb in the clouds.

Visibility worsened, until we could see almost nothing.

Once we reached the top of the mountain, we began to see the blue of the sky again.

Indeed, on the top of the mountain it was sunny, and there was a sea of clouds at our feet.

We stopped to watch the sunset.

Obviously we took dozens of photos.

As the sun went down, we did ski headed to the bottom valley, going back into the clouds.

@PaulPavlinovich Yes, it is a great way to spend time, and it is even more cool if you think that my friends and I were all having a layoffs day due to the economic crisis that hit our company because of the covid pandemic.

Hi @raffaele_guidolin , I admire your courage and the beautiful pictures of the sunset from the top of the mountain. I’m sure you had a good time climbing to the top, of course, excluding the bad weather on the way.

Here in Bulgaria our winter resorts such as Bansko, Borovets, Pamporovo work normally, there are crowds of people especially in front of the lift, where there are long queues. In our resorts the restaurants do not work only those restaurants that are in the hotels.

I will share a photo where I was on vacation 3 weeks ago in Pamporovo.

The photo shows how on one of the ski slopes in the resort there are many people queuing in front of the lift.

I am very sorry that because of this Covid your ski slopes and lifts have been closed and you have lost your job.

Best Regards!

@mockata2 thanks for your moral support.

I love skiing and I know Bansko given that it hosts world cup races. In future I would like to go to Bulgaria. What would you suggest between Bansko and Pamparovo? Which is the largest Ski resort?

Btw, do you like skiing?

@Sophia_Cambodia thanks a lot. #sunset is always the top condition for taking photos.

The two ski resorts are very different, but I offer Bnasko for a better winter resort than Pamporovo, because there the slopes are world class and there are a total of 70 kilometers of professionally prepared and reliably secured slopes. The popularity of Bansko outside Bulgaria is due to the good conditions for ski tourism in combination with original folklore and old Bulgarian architecture. There is something to see.

Pamporovo is a smaller ski resort than Bansko, here it is mostly visited by Bulgarian ski tourists. The resort has 37 km of slopes, the longest of which is 5.1 km. The tracks are of varying difficulty - there are both advanced and beginner athletes. Unlike Bnasco, there are no locals here and everything is just hotels full of tourists.

Admittedly, I do not ski, but I have a lot of friends and acquaintances who love sports and go on weekends to ski or Banako or Borovets.

I hope you will be able to visit our winter resorts @raffaele_guidolin when the travel arrangements loosen. But as it turns out, we will not get rid of this Covod in the coming years.
I really want to visit Venice, but I will wait to see what happens to travel, because there is speculation that if a person does not get vaccinated, he will not travel.

Best Regards!

@mockata2 Wow, Bansko is bigger than expected.

I hope to visit Bulgaria soon and, if possible to ski in Bansko. As a matter of fact I like to explore new sites.

Let’s hope the pandemic ends soon.

And if you come to Venice, call me.

@PattyBlack grazie.

Ciao
