Sixty Dome Mosque | Bagerhat | Khulna | Bangladesh
Sixty Dome Mosque (Bengali: ষাট গম্বুজ মসজিদ) is a mosque in Bangladesh. it is located in Bagerhat district of Khulna division of Bangladesh. it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was declared in 1985. It was built during the reign of Khan Jahan Ali in the middle of the 15th century.
About the mosque :
Shat Gambuj Mosque sixty domed mosque. But actually there are two till 81 dome. There are 77 low domes arranged in 7 rows of 11 and one dome on each corner. There are four towers. Two of four towers were used to call Azaan. There are exactly 60 stone pillars of the mosque. It is possible that the mosque was originally referred to as the sixty pillared mosque. But locally it became Shat Gambuj Masjid.
Entry :
You will require a ticket to enter the mosque area. The price of the tickets is twenty Taka for locals, but no child under the age of five is required for a ticket. For any foreign visitor, the ticket price is Two hundred Taka.
Open Closure Schedule
The fort is open from 10am to 6pm in the summer. The middle is closed from 1pm to 1.30pm for half an hour. And it is open from 9am to 5pm in the winter. In winter, it is closed from 1pm to 1.30pm. And for the Jumma prayer on Friday, it is closed from 12:30 to 3 in the noon.
