January 12, 2019 @ 11:00 (+08)

Here’s to yet another Singapore favorite outing - good food. This Saturday we are going to hunt down a very famous Nasi Briyani stall near Golden Mile food centre / Beach Road. Koothurar Nasi Briyani - https://goo.gl/maps/7CbMZZjLgAU2 17 Beach Rd, #01-4705, Singapore 190017 Meet us at this address at 11am for some delicious nasi briyani. The shop only starts selling at 11am and runs out by 1 to 2pm. So don’t be late or you will miss it! They stop selling once they run out and there’s a long queue! We’ll enjoy some great local nasi briyani, pair it with some hot teh, and talk about the new Google Maps “suggested places” features! Please note: - cost: pay for your own meal. Not more than S$10 including drink. - venue: address is as above. It’s a coffee shop outside Golden Mile Food Centre, take note it’s not Golden Mile Complex the big mall. - activity: we can go find more famous food inside Golden Mile if anyone still can eat more! - If you’re new, at least one of us should be in a Local Guides tshirt or look for the LG logo. - We will only wait for you if you post in the Connect forum thread that you are confirmed coming. See you Saturday!

Hello @JulienH ,

It’s great to see your meet-ups again and this time Indian food, I personally love Indian food. Many time I visited Singapore, but haven’t got a chance to try it. Maybe next visit I will try it.

Can’t wait to see the delicious recap!

The text here is a bit hard to read, it’s clearer on the meetup page.

Do let me know in advance if you’re coming. We’re probably gonna have to wait in a long queue for the delicious food so we’ll try to buy for whoever is coming. =)

so hungry.

@JulienH This biryani looks delicious. i wish i could join you.

Just an update here after the delicious meetup.

Thank you to @Pedi and @Minggg for coming down!

We found the briyani shop, successfully!

For those who didn’t catch it before, we were on a hunt for one of the well known briyani food stalls in Singapore. It’s located right outside Golden Mile Food Centre (which itself has tons of good food, but we’ll leave that for another day)

The name is Koothurar Nasi Briyani and it’s at https://goo.gl/maps/wkdYqjqiybs. The name is quite hard to remember so if you forget, just google for briyani beach road.

So many important things to take note if you’re going down:

  1. opening hours. They start selling around 11am, and supposedly end around 2pm.

  2. They don’t have any signboard! You will see a the “Beach Road Home Made Pao Dian” shop sign, and the briyani stall is just further in, no signs! Just look out for the uncles preparing food and the inevitable queue right outside the coffeeshop.

  3. We ordered a large plate to try the options, but the vegetable side dishes are optional. But you should try them if it’s your first time, they tasted pretty good!

Just look at that deliciousness! It was a really large pile of fragrant rice, chicken, hard boiled egg, achar, creamy vegetables. Bring an empty stomach.

So yeah we also had a great chat about planning some other non-food outings in the coming months to like work off all this belly fat from the feasting, and it just happened that today morning a new email went out with some stats on 2018 Local Guides contributions. It was pretty nice to see how many contributions we did! Hope everyone else liked the email as much as we did and feels encouraged to keep contributing in 2019!

If you’re interested in our future outings, do keep an eye out on Connect, and also on Twitter with #singaporelocalguides

Looks so tasty! I’m looking forward to seeing your recap;-)

I wanna go to Singapore!

Nice one @JulienH ! I’ve just shared this post to my sister to see if she’s been there. She’s a foodie that I’ve been trying to convert to the program… but she’s too foodie to care about writing reviews! Lol

Thanks so much to @JulienH for organizing this outing! Super enjoyed the Briyani as well as your and @Pedi 's LG stories! Till the next time guys!
