I’m having trouble again when it comes to wanting to contribute via my Desktop.
I’ve searched for other users’ posts and the closest one I found is this one back in 2016.
I sign in and then try to add a review but a blue box appears wanting me to sign in again. I try to but the pop-up either doesn’t go away or it does and then a caption appears saying there’s a problem or the request can’t be completed or something along those lines and to try again later.
Would you by any chance have an idea as to why this is happening @JanVanHaver ? You seem quite clued up on the software related aspects to posting.
I’m afraid we have hereby reached the boundaries of my knowledge @LeeBee-SA . This is something I have not seen here before. But as you were able to dig up a post from 2016 with the exact same message (kudos for finding that!), which only has 2 user comments, I assume it is caused by a temporary server issue or so, and will therefore get fixed all by itself. Should that not be the case in, say 24 hours, the you will need to tag a moderator to have a look at it.
Ah, oh well @JanVanHaver thanks for responding regardless
It has happened to me before too and at that time I thought it may be a server issue. I’ll leave it for a bit like you suggest and try again after 24 hours or longer.
@LeeBee-SA Can you try this. Open an incognito browser window and try to sign in using your Local Guides registered Google account. See if you have the same problem.
If the above is ok, then it’s likely issues with information stored in the main cache of the main browser, maybe because more than 1 Google account is registered and cached. Then potentially, a clear cache/history/cookies may be needed (note that doing this will clear cache of other sites too, so only do this if absolutely necessary).
Ok, I tried incognito mode. Now the blue pop-up box doesn’t appear but it still won’t allow me to post or contribute to maps, especially with photos through Google Photos.
When I try to post it says “server error, please try later” in small at the bottom of the screen.
I’ll carry on posting via my phone for now, that’s no worry, but yea sometimes accessibility is better on my desktop and it’s nice to type on a bigger keyboard y’know?
Thanks for the links, I read them and tried them but am still having the same issues.
Also it’s not so much that I have “blank” Maps whilst browsing on my laptop, but rather that I’m not recognised to sign in/the server or something I’m not sure of won’t allow me to access even though I am actually already signed in.
Having a similar issue with YouTube which you can read up about HERE
