Urvahi Gate is the main gate of the famous Gwalior Fort through which tourists can access the major monuments which are located up the hill with their vehicles.
After entering through this gate, after about 500 meters, statues of Jain Tirthankaras are seen on the hills on both sides of the road. This is called Siddhachal Jain cave complex.
These, statues of Jain Tirthankaras have been made by cutting rocks. According to the Archaeological Department, some of these statues are of the 7th century and most are of the 15th century. The statues are in standing and sitting postures and a legend is associated with each statue.
These statues have religious and historical importance based on the values of Jainism and the talent and efficiency of the artisans who carved them was of high order, only then they were depicted impressively on an accurate scale. These brings the impression of modern days Street Art.
