Shwedagon Pagoda is one of the best place to visit in Yangon. But very few people know and get a chance to see the beautiful pagoda from some interesting places that are a bit far from the pagoda itself. For example, the Kandawagi lake few minutes walk east of Pagoda is a beautiful place to watch and capture the pagoda well reflected in the water. The lake is very well maintained by the council and it is like a park, full of greenery, very popular for the local residents who come here every morning and evening for walk, exercise and other recreational activities. This is one of the perfect places for photography in Yangon.
A walk around the lake, which takes around an hour for a photographer who wants to take some snaps while going around, provides some of the most beautiful and rare opportunities to capture the beauty of Yangon. Check out this one sample photo taken during one of my usual morning walk.
Our photo walk will start from the entrance/gate of the “Karaweik Garden” and will go around the lake, to finally capture the reflection of tallest Shwedago Pagoda reflected on the lake from a point near Laterite Hill inside the park. The park is teeming with tourists mostly during the morning and evening. And there are several interesting places to visit inside [like this boat palace in the picture below] and of course some of the best restaurants to eat.
