Shri Madhyamaheshwar Temple Trek

Greetings to all Local Guides!

After a long break, I am finally sharing another travel story. I hope you all enjoy reading it and show it the same love and support as always.

This journey was to Shri Madhyamaheshwar Temple, one of the sacred Panch Kedar temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Our pilgrimage began on 30 May 2026. On the same day, we reached Ransi Village in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, situated at an altitude of approximately 1,950 metres (6,398 ft). We stayed there overnight to prepare for the trek.

The next morning, at 3:30 AM, we began our trek to Madhyamaheshwar. The trail is around 18 km one way, climbing through dense forests, beautiful waterfalls, wooden bridges, iron bridges, rocky paths, and steep mountain ascents. The temple itself is located at an altitude of approximately 3,289 metres (10,791 ft).

The continuous uphill climb was physically demanding, but every step was rewarded with breathtaking Himalayan scenery. After nearly 9–10 hours of trekking, we finally reached Shri Madhyamaheshwar Temple.

It rained lightly during our ascent, so unfortunately I couldn’t capture many photos along the way. We were completely soaked by the time we arrived. After changing into dry clothes and having a meal, we attended the peaceful evening Aarti at the temple. Witnessing the prayers surrounded by the Himalayas was an unforgettable spiritual experience.

The following morning, we trekked to Budha (Old) Madhyamaheshwar, located about 2 km above the main temple at an altitude of approximately 3,497 metres (11,473 ft). From there, the panoramic views of Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, Kedar Dome, and other snow-covered Himalayan peaks were absolutely mesmerizing. After spending some time there taking photographs and recording videos, we returned to the main temple for another darshan.

Since there was very little crowd, we were fortunate to have a peaceful and unhurried darshan. Around 11:00 AM, we began our descent and reached Ransi Village by approximately 5:00 PM.

One important thing to know is that there is no mobile network in the Madhyamaheshwar Valley, including around the temple. Electricity is supplied primarily through solar panels, so charging facilities are limited. Because of this, I used my phone very sparingly. I came back with only a few photographs but countless memories.

This journey was much more than a trek—it was a perfect blend of devotion, spirituality, adventure, and nature. The peaceful atmosphere, untouched landscapes, and divine energy of Madhyamaheshwar make it a truly unforgettable destination.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my experience. Please share your thoughts in the comments.

Har Har Mahadev!
