This temple was established by Basappa Shetty on 21 May 1915 at the present location. The original goddess is Banshankari of Badami.
The special puja of this temple is performed during Rahukal i.e. Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at around 5:30 am. This special Aarti is the main attraction among devotees and local people. Special procedures are followed in this special ritual. It is believed that Basappa Shetty was asked in a dream to consecrate the idol here from Badami. According to another famous legend, the puja is performed during Rahukal to commemorate the victory of Goddess Banshankari over the demon Durgamasura.
After coming to the temple premises, one feels peaceful and blissful. The atmosphere becomes devotional during the Aarti. This temple is on the way to Bannerghatta National Park, where one can reach conveniently by bus and metro.
