Hi friends! I have decided I would like to start a new series of posts to celebrate Google Maps and Connects birthdays this year.
My favourite contribution to Google Maps is adding photos. It’s the best way to help others see what a place looks like and why I started contributing in the first place.
In the spirit of our amazing Local Guides community, I thought it would be cool to share our local neighbourhood and favourite places for everyone to see.
“I’ll show you mine, if you show me yours!”
My plan is to share one (1) photo as often as possible, and then I would like as many Local Guides to share one photo in the comments of the same or similar thing in their neighbourhood. And I hope you also share that photo on Google Maps.
I will start the series off with a simple request to show me your local park. You can add just one photo and a brief description. If you would like to add more photos, you can turn them into a collage.
My local park is literally across the road from my home and is a multifunctional space.
It is a gated park because it is an off-leash dog park, so you’ll see lots of dogs running around with their owners. The local council provides free biodegradable poop bags for dog owners to use, and special water taps for dogs to drink from.
You will also find two free-to-use tennis courts, a toilet block and children’s play equipment.
The park is lined with huge heritage fig trees which fill up with lots of noisy bats at night eating on the fruit. And during the day you will find plenty of Australian native birds like kookaburras, colourful lorikeets, beautiful black cockatoos and plenty more.
It’s a cool space that brings so many locals together.
