Short Trip to Gir National Park

Hello Everyone,

Recently, I had the chance to meet her highness “the Asiatic lioness” at Gir National Park in Devalia, Gujrat, Rajasthan. Being an unplanned trip like my most others, I did face a few hurdles while visiting the place. But the place is extremely beautiful, natural & worth visiting. I find these reasons enough to share my view with you all.

Planning the Visit:

First and foremost things to plan while visiting the National Park are:

  1. Visit Permit for entry into the park which is available online at https://girlion.gujarat.gov.in/ at Rs. 1000 per individual. In addition you need to pay for your Guide Rs. 400 per trip per individual and Rs. 1500 for Gypsy and driver. The permit is extremely essential, limited to enter and not available to people who don’t plan their trips. So, I had to visit a nearby location in Devalia, ticket for which can be purchased at the spot with same price.

  2. Location to stay, which is easily available right from Gir National park to Somnath which is at 1 hour drive from the location.

  3. You need either your own vehicle otherwise local cabbies are also available easily on hire.

How to Reach:

Nearest airport is Diu, Daman & Diu at 85 KM but due to limited flight options, the best suited route is through Ahmedabad, Gujrat. Nearest railway station will be Veraval or Somnath, as options to stay are available at both the locations.

Devalia, Gir:

You might need multiple visits as there is no surety to see the King of the Jungle in the first visit. But of course, you will plan your visit unlike me and may share your experience. Wish you good luck. All I could capture were:

The overall experience was good and I recommend all to visit the place. There are a lot more pics of many more but that’ll only make the article heavy. Apart from the forest you can visit the famous Somnath temple, situated at the beach with lovely views from all sides. Sadly cameras are not allowed inside the premises. All I could capture was this:

Thanks…
