I’m Shiku, the curious and energetic squirrel mascot of the 5th India Mega Meetup in Pune! ![]()
Now, I know what you’re thinking…
A squirrel taking you on a tour of Pune’s parks?
Well, if Local Guides can take us on amazing journeys through restaurants and man-made places across the globe, I thought it was my turn to show you some of the beautiful green spaces I call home too! ![]()
And since I know quite a few furry friends around Pune, I’ve got special permission to take you along and show you their homes too!
So come along with me as we explore two beautiful parks in Pune, meet my friends and discover the little corners of the city they call home.
Stop 1: P. L. Deshpande Garden
Alright Local Guides, paws up! ![]()
Our first stop is P. L. Deshpande Garden, and I must say, my human friends have done a pretty good job making this place squirrel approved.
This beautiful Japanese-styled garden is filled with greenery, peaceful corners and plenty of spots that make me want to stop my little squirrel feet and simply enjoy the view. But wait… I found something even better!
There’s a viewpoint here that offers a panoramic view of the garden and its surroundings. And obviously, I had to check it out first. Someone has to make sure the view is worth the climb, right?
So, while I scampered around exploring every corner, I also brought along a few photographs to prove that I wasn’t just hiding in the bushes. ![]()
Come on Local Guides… let’s see what I found!
And that’s a wrap on our first park adventure!
I’ve had my little squirrel moment here, but before my friends start wondering where I’ve disappeared to I think it’s time to scurry along to our next stop
Come on Local Guides, our Pune park adventure continues
Stop 2: Lakaki Lake
Okay Local Guides, I have a confession to make…
This one is my favourite ![]()
Well… technically, it’s Sumedh’s favourite. But since I’m travelling with him, I have officially decided that his favourites are my favourites too. No further questions, please.
Lakaki Lake is especially beautiful in the morning, when the place comes alive with lots of birds.
And honestly, for a squirrel like me having so many feathered neighbours around is basically a VIP experience!
There’s also a beautiful walking track around the lake making it a lovely place to slow down, take a stroll, enjoy the greenery, and watch the world wake up.
I could tell you more… but I think the birds have already started gossiping, so let’s just enjoy the view!
Come on Local Guides let’s take a little walk around the lake! ![]()
And just like that, our little park adventure comes to an end! ![]()

From the beautiful Japanese-style gardens at P. L. Deshpande Garden to the peaceful bird-filled surroundings of Lakaki Lake, I hope you enjoyed exploring these little green corners of Pune with me.
There are still plenty of parks waiting to be explored, and who knows… maybe I’ll take you along on another adventure soon!
Until then, keep exploring, keep discovering, and most importantly… keep those squirrel-approved adventures coming!
And before I scamper away, don’t forget to register for the 5th India Mega Meetup! ![]()
