Sharing what counts

Over the years I have had many chance to check out many places across the globe. One thing in common though is that all the good tips you’ll find are either outdated or simply not the experience you’ve expected. With Google Maps and the Local Guide community, however, you can get hands-on experiences like you would get from friends, relatives and acquaintances. They tend to tailor to your preferences, they know what you like and what you don’t.

Local Guides brings some of that experience to the internet. Food places that you would simply not find, either in your home town or while travelling can pop up as your perfect match, and they really are a match. Caring for these experiences what I like about Google Maps and leaving my reviews to feed an ever growing community.

I like to share those experiences, which really stood out to me, both in a good way and a bad way. The former is my preferred method, as it gives the chance to somebody with similar tastes to have the same experience. The latter, leaving a bad or average review, for me means that there was something that broke promises, wrongly advertised or misleading. It might have received the go-to-label from blogs, websites, even travel magazines, but my experiences and those of my fellows do not match that promised feel-good. Then, I consider it my service to the communtiy to warn of potential disappointment - just like many reviews and experiences shared have saved me a good deal of failed expectations.

Continuing to deliver the most authentic and most accurate experiences, be it restaurants, museums, specific shops, landmarks - you name it - is an aspect of Local Guides Connect which will drive my future contribution to this platform and virtually infinite community of trusted, authentic people giving advice like your closest friends would.
