When facing the question: what I love sharing most on Google Maps and why? Many answers come to head… Curiously the vast majority of the ideas go into one same direction: I am an experience collector, and the best part of experiences is to be able to not only live but share them and, through them, connect with others individuals like me.
I have been able to discover, in my inland and world traveling, how everything translates into an experience… regardless of the topic or geolocation. See, going to a restaurant can turn out to be a gastronomical delight if you happen to know where to go or what to order but it could also end up being a nightmare if you don’t; the same way, a little known spot by a near or by the city beach can become an isolated paradise or you can end up in a crowded place with only a few meters of difference; a safari or a bungy jump can be a life changing experience or can traumatise you… And so goes the list.
I collect experiences and don’t get me wrong, I do love living them.
But it is in platforms like Google Maps that I can truly make the best out of them, in the aftermath. Why? Because it allows me to connect with others (in a direct or indirect way) and with every collaboration I am not only making MY own life easier (e.g. with curated lists that facilitate where I will go next), but I am making use of a tiny little space to make a modest contribution. By providing unknown individuals a tip, an answer, a review or a photo one might (hopefully) allow them to set the right expectations and find the right match for their own experiences.
It is in within this almost anonymous contributions that lies the power of the “Local Guides”, and I am proud to be a member of this virtual community.
This are some images part of my “experience collection”, they represent my passion, my joy. Now, let’s go beyond ‘ME’ and connect: what are YOU passionate about?!

I’m really into that! What is it that drives your passion? @Billing5
Thank you @antonio1971 . What have YOU done that your consider amazing?
@petitereaderifc I’m trying to collect some, but the world is sooooo amazing and diverse and big that there’s always something else to do, right? What do you think should be in anyone’s bucket list?
Thank you @GeorgeEPremkumar . I’m glad to read that with a few words and pixels you got that glimpse of passionates me. Those are not from Kenya, but you were pretty close, as they are from Ethiopia. Some in those are from Europe and South Africa as well :P. Naw tell me, what are YOU passionate about?
Travel should be on everyone’s bucket list, and to leave their home country to explore what else is out there! I love visiting new places. My goal is to travel outside of the US at some point, but I’m still working on that dream. For now, I try to visit 1-2 places per year, meet new people, and see what the world has, no matter how close or far. =D

So much wisdom in that first sentence of yours @petitereaderifc !
By adding 2 new places per year you can really achieve a lot! (in a way that is not so harmful for a budget). And in the USA you have so many wonderful and diverse options that it can take a lifetime to discover them all, and still not be done with the list…
Which has been so far your favourite experience?
In the states mine was the South of Utah… WOW! The arches, canyons and hoodoos knocked me down with their charm! Here some pics:
This year, I narrowed it down to California, Utah, or Arizona, and passing through Vegas depending on which we chose. I decided on California, and will go for Utah in a couple of years.
Oh, for sure! Even someone with millions will never have a chance to explore all of the hidden places in America. There are just so many unique cities within the states that it would need to be a full-time job! Maybe when I reach financial freedom one day haha.
I have a friend who recently camped out in the canyons, and they didn’t see any people for days so had the place to themselves! I usually only go during summer, so I doubt I’d be that lucky. =)
Colorado was really fun, but the hikes were the most challenged I have ever been physically. It led us to the most beautiful waterfalls, so it was worth it. As simple as it sounds, I also just visited Iowa, and it is actually also really challenging during the winter. We went on hikes through the national parks, and there was nothing but sheets of ice that we had to walk over to get to the other side. On both sides, there was only a river 60ft below, so literally could have fallen or slid to my death lol but it was a lot of fun (as odd as that sounds).
Thanks for sharing and chatting!

It all sounds great @petitereaderifc ! Have you shared any of those itineraries with this community, I would love to see some of your photos and read more about those experiences! They sound dope!
I have! I’m still getting acclimated with using Connect for more than a helpdesk (haha). I’ve been more involved with Maps, but now that I know the power of Connect as well, it has opened the door to begin sharing more of my personal experiences in more detail and getting to meet “actual” people.
Here is my Connect story: https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/What-you-love-sharing-most-on-Google-Maps-and-why/m-p/1376274#M324172
I love that they have the competition going because even if we don’t win the trip, we still get to see what else Connect can be used for…i.e. still winning!

@petitereaderifc I just left it open to read it when I have the chance to check it in pure detail, not just partial attention. Thanks for sharing it!
The light in your face, smiles and places combined! To show a life happy is great!

Thanks for your comment @antonio1971 ! Indeed life is great, specially when, in platforms like this, you can continue to savor and almost make that ephemeral happiness last longer. Do you agree?
@Marichams Amazing, did you do that, the first photo with tribes, vow i too love to take picture like that, don’t why i am very eager to learn about tribes and should experience the life they leave.
Superb. keep it up.
