Hi,
My name is Marijke Wijnands and I live in The Hague. I’m a foodie and I would love to share my relationship with Maps, Food & Reviews as a Local Guide.
As a food fanatic I love eating (of course) but also making pictures of the meal I’m about to eat. Via via I find hotspots, but I just discovered ‘the new in your area’ feature on Google Maps. Great for me, since lately I have a hard time to keep track of all the new spots I need to visit!
So when I visit a new place I always check blogs, food shows/documentaries, maps and review sites to find the best food. Just to give you an idea: I plan my trips around the restaurants and cafe’s I want to visit. When I’m there I’m just allowed to make 1 picture per dish. Crazy difficult, but otherwise the food get’s cold or warm ;). Afterwards I place a review on Maps with my nice pictures and go to bed ![]()
But also locally in my own city I love to discover new restaurants. The Hague has many undiscovered places and has a great history of Asian (Indonesian) food
As being half Indonesian myself this is one of the big reasons I moved here.
My biggest dream is to make a world trip based on food. So, Japan for the best sushi and yakitori, Italy for the best pasta and pizza (Modena!!), Mexico for the best taco’s in the world and so on and so on. Just travelling, eating and sleeping <3
What is your relationship with Food and Maps? Do you use it a lot to find good spots? Or do you go with the flow and see where your feet will take you?
Would love to know more and meet other Local Guides.
