Sharing hidden gems

Tasty food has always been a great interest of mine. As long as I can remember I always kept my own personal top-list for where I should go to get this or that special food. And I would like to point out that we do have a lot of diverse foods and sweets in Turkey. Whenever I was taking out a friend who came to town for the first time, I was making sure to go to the part of town where the best Döner was made. Then, for dessert, it could be necessary to go to a completely different neighbourhood in order to have our Baklava for dessert. If you care about food, you will know what I am talking about.

Being a local guide with Google is really fun, since it allows me to share my knowledge of my favourite local gems with the rest of the world. I think it is particularly interesting with small and simple restaurants that you would not read about in the usual guide to the city, for instance because they are located in a bit forgotten part of the town, or some place where only the real locals go. The above photo is taken from the pide salon “Elmalılar” in Giresun, Turkey. A simple restaurant that makes the traditional pie called “pide”, but its a very genuine place and their food is really well made.

I am currently living in Uppsala, Sweden, but I was born and raised in Izmir, Turkey, so I have many connections to both countries, and go between these two countries a lot. Do not hesitate to ask me if you are interested in getting to know more!
