As we are staying home during this difficult times, I thought to ask you to share with all of us, your most viewed single photo which you have submitted to Google Maps.
The reason behind the post, is to show other new colleagues, that one photo may have a huge impact on others daily life and choices, don’t hesitate to share your photo of any where you see around.
You can reach this by going to your contribution tab (only web interface and Android), go to your photos, sort it by Views.
Please share the photo here in your post, along with the story behind it, and why you believe it got this huge number of views.
Starting with myself, I’m showing here my top viewed photo of a Cairo city restaurant (almost 1.5 Million views), where I tried their delicious Seafood pasta, it’s a small cozy place where you will have to wait for some time to get your seat. https://goo.gl/maps/19dnVpBda8fJ4jWr6
My photo was featured in the place’s info, and due to high demand of the place, it’s the main reason - I believe- was the reason behind the big view number.
Hi @ShadySalama . I hope all is well. Here is my top viewed photo on Gmaps and this is the front building of the ministry of health in Lebanon. I believe it is the most viewed photo because everyone is concerned with their health amid the coronavirus outbreak, and are searching for health-related places. Thanks for sharing and stay safe!
This is a great idea! I hope it is successful and a lot of people join the challenge.
Just wanted to let you know that I will move your post to the Achievements board, used by Local Guides to share their accomplishments, related to the program.
It was a new opening and belongs to the first photo for this place
The name of the restaurant is “Florentina”. This is a girls (growing popular) name AND it is a special steak from Toscany (Italy). I believe that people who did google either this or the other, did when using Google Poland got it in the search results
So it was not a special good photo, but somehow luck. As I wrote, it is no more displayed on this place…
Saint Helena Island,
I am very proud to say that i have the majority of top photos and many of certain establishments in James Town on Saint Helena island. I have visited the island 5 times, over a 6-year period. Considering that at the time of my visits the island was receiving 350 tourists a year, yes you read that correctly. There is one mail ship that supplies the island RMS St Helena, and other that via Sailing yacht, no public way of getting on the island. Billions were spent on a runway and due to unpredictable crosswinds all air traffic was suspended.

So there are my top 3 images, a fish and chip shop, a computer store and a ice cream parlour. Now onto the views.
The top one at 1,958,649 views simply amazes me and I just don’t get it. The photo is a little crooked and while it shows off the nice clean atmosphere of this shop its not special. The fish shop isn’t even particularly busy so I have no idea how it attracts this view count. It does seem that most of the fish and chip shops I’ve contributed to do have a significant views.
The next one at 1,871,213 views is a very popular computer shop, they are one of the heaviest discounts anywhere and despite constantly being in a strife with various state bodies over their selling practices have a strong and loyal customer base including me. I get why this one has lots of views because so many people search for it!
The 3rd one I’m quite proud of, Jocks Ice Cream at 1,619,304 views. This is IMHO the best ice cream in Melbourne, potentially the best ice cream in Australia. They make their own and it is absolutely amazing.
Now this last one is iconic and perhaps doesn’t need introduction, this is the Merced River that runs through Yosemite National Park which is one of the most beautiful places on this planet I’ve had the privilege to visit. When I lived in California many years ago I tried to get to Yosemite many times but something always got in the way. In 2017 I was fortunate enough to have enough savings to add extra time to my Connect Live (or Summit 2017 as it was known then) and include Yosemite in my motor home tour of California. I’m so glad I was able to do this. When you visit that valley, especially if you stay there so that you’re out and about before the tourist mobs turn up you’ll find a connection to the earth or a connection to country as our native population describe it. Its the only place that I’ve ever felt truly connected to. During one of my hikes I was literally connected when I slid down a hill and left some skin behind :). So I know why this one got so many views. It was the feature photo of the valley for exactly one day and on that day it got most of those views!
Generally merging back in time like that isn’t a good idea @AdamGT because the newer post won’t resurrect the old one and will simply vanish from view. Of course I know you weren’t trying to highlight your post because that would be self promotion.
