Today I am going to share my city airport that how beautifully it is made where you can spend your waiting hours into productive.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport Terminal- 2 is the 14th busiest airport in the whole Asia and 41th busiest Airport in the world.

This airport offer you free museum tour when your can know more about Indian history and culture. There is no entry fee for visiting museum it’s special made for tourist who can spend their extra time over here.

Even for domestic travelers they have ample things to do on the airport where you can simply remove your waiting hours.

During my waiting hours I found there were amazing display of wooden doors from western and Kolam pattern to express the theme of migration and lost homelands by interior designer Tanuja Rane.

Each and every design of doors, windows and Kolam are explained through their tradition.

  • Etched dragonflies/ locusts
Having survived over 300 million year on this earth. The dragonfly is a metaphor of the Mumbai the iridescence of the dragonfly’s wings relates to the charm of this " city of dreams" these are single edition etchings printed on home made papers.

  • Kolams
In Indian culture kolams, mandanas, muggus etc are auspicious pattern created in courtyard using material such as colored rice , dry flour and colored sand or flowers petals.

  • Doorway
This wooden Door probably belong to a later 19th or early 20th century residential structure from Gujrat. The jali work of floral motifs was a common tradition of Gujrat.

  • Window
The structure of this carved window follow the designs of doors of Gujrat havelis of the 18th and 19th century. The design consist of a dense grid of flower in high relief inset within an ornamental theme.

So have you have ever seen such unique things on your airport which make your airport waiting time fly away if yes please share with me i would love to hear about it.

Thank you & Happy Guiding

Hey brilliant idea!! :+1: I had couple of exp at Delhi and Bengaluru (Kempegowda airport). One I had already shared of a great transit hotel inide Bengaluru airport .

At Indira Gandhi Inrernational Airport T-3, New Delhi:

There is this mural while going to gates.

The famous huge mural at IGIA, Delhi.

At Pune International Airport, there is nothing much since its a small airport, during last visit, I checked couple of this, which I found a bit interesting

At Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, before entering the aiprort, they have this huge, beuatiful waiting/food lobby called “The Quad” for the visitors and guests:

I hope this suffice the point/s you have asked to share.

Thanks and cheers!

Wonderful idea and amazing snaps at the CSIA Mumbai @Pratik_89

When I traveled via the Detroit airport back in 2008, I was super-surprised at the sight of the inter-terminal trams.

A metro-like train right inside an airport was something beyond my imagination.

The full post is here:

Eventually I experienced more such inter-terminal trams at Dubai in the later years.

Another memory from the airport that was a first for me at Delhi airport, the motorized wheelchair service:

This really is a boon for last mile connectivity for the differently abled.

Hi @Tomas_31 that’s a really good question.

Well there are many waiting areas in the airport where you can rest or slp on reclying chairs.

CSIA offers lots of waiting area where you can just have a good rest.

Moreover if you like to take a privilege to have a private area for taking rest you can just take any airport lounge and can have unlimited food and drinks.

The minimum charge per passanger is 1500 inr or you must have priority lounge pass which offers you free lounge access on international and domestic airports. But you need to show yours passport and boarding pass.
