#Share Your Airport Diaries - Houston

This is in response to the amazing challenge by guiding star @Pratik_89 - I absolutely love this theme.

Pratik is rare and unique among local guides, let this go on record, in that I admire his writing style and his passion for coffee and books, especially the combination where he finds coffee shops with book reading facilities. :coffee: + :books:

I captured this photo at the Houston airport last week and from far away it appeared like an astronaut statue.

This is common in Houston whose top tourist attraction is the NASA Space Center.

On moving closer, I found that it is in fact a cow that is wearing an astronaut gear.

Let me explain…

Houston is the capital of the US state of Texas which has a long tradition of pastures, cattle trading and cowboys.

So, a combination of the two comes as no surprise.

It does look a bit weird but not after joining the dots.

Though I missed noting the text at the bottom of the statue which is seen ending in …Landed.

Most likely it is ‘The Eagles Have Landed’ or some funny version of it.

If you know, please mention in the comments.

Some other attractions at the Houston International Airport are:

A neon edge glow rocket cutout.

And finally, an amazing mural art with the text ‘Greetings from Houston’ resembling MS Word clipart from the 90’s

Please share your airport diaries to support and enjoy this wonder series by Pratik Tanna :+1:

@TusharSuradkar I think that Houston is also NASA city and those decorations showed in your pictures are justified in the state of Texas style. That’s why I also believe that cowboy’s hats can be seen everywhere around the airport…And you will find an astronaut wearing a cowboy hat…

What an interesting post…! I loved learning more about the combination of NASA and Texas ranch culture represented in this photo. I have a keen interest in NASA. It is so cool…! I am excited to learn more about what makes different airports around the world unique…! That’s a creative and unique way of putting together two really different things - Houston and Astronauts…! It’s amazing how you managed to link themtogether. I will share for sure if I travel by flight in the future. Thank you so much @TusharSuradkar for sharing.

@TusharSuradkar Great captures, hope you are having a great trip to US. Any plans to visit San Francisco Bay area? If you have plans please let me know, we can meet. I believe Houston is still called ‘Space City’. US state capitals are very confusing, Austin is Capital of Texas.
