Located at a stone throw away distance from the bus terminal in sector 17 is the Shanti Kunj Park. It means “Abode of Peace”. It is one of the best park in Chandigarh.
Nested between Rose garden and Cricket stadium, this park is a heaven for nature lovers. Living rightly up to its name it is free from any noise and pollution. There are a number of trees and plants which provide soothing and healing effect due to their medicinal qualities.
The park is filled with joggers during morning and evening hours. There is an open air gym with modern equipments like treadmills, leg shapers, shoulder press etc to name a few. These machines are manually operated thus no electricity is consumed.
A small cafeteria serving refreshments welcomes visitors. Occasionally various training programs are conducted on youth empowerment, spiritual awareness, etc.
A natural stream flows through the garden with small wooden bridges at various points adds to its beauty. A perfect picnic spot for kids.
