Shanghai Impression

I used to live in Shanghai for 4 years. It’s one of the biggest city in the world.

It’s the economic, finance, trade, art and shipping hub of China.

It has 17million residents and 5 million mobile population.

It’s the greatest city in China to shop and to dine.

During our week-long visit, we stayed in an old townhouse in the midtown. We visited some friends and families. We tried different restaurants and eateries.

POIs are The Bund, Lujiazui Financial District (Oriental Pearl Tower and IFC), Nanjing Road, JIngan Temple, Xujiahui, Tianzifang and Xintiandi.

Once again, my photos are always focused on people - their lives and their state of mind

These photos were taken 3 years ago.

Hello @OliverKIWI ,

Congratulations for these amazing photos, thank you for sharing them and making us discover this beautiful location through your eyes!

I love the dynamics and the diversity of the subjects in your photography. Are you a photographer? What camera do you usually use?

Was Shanghai the place that fascinated you the most as a subject of photography?

Hi @BorrisS , so glad you like my photos and you asked thought-provoking questions.

I call myself 3/4 pro photographer, a little bit better than semi-pro:)

I use Canon 5D II and 24-105 F4 lens for travel.

I want my images to be visually interesting. Try to find new things rather than cliche. I like to observe people thru my lens. Capture a decisive moment is always my goal.

Shanghai to China is like NY to the States. It’s always the photographer’s favourite for cityscape, architecture and street photography etc.

Hello @OliverKIWI

It’s great to know that you used to live in Shanghai for four years. Did you enjoy live there? Where did you live in Shanghai? And what was your favorite food?

Here I would like to share with you my photograph of The Bund. I really enjoyed looking the view from The Bund in the afternoon while taking a breath with the fresh air.

@Velvel That’s an epic photo!

I lived in various suburbs/district: Changning, Pudong and Luojing. My favourite Shanghai food is Sheng Jian Man Tou (Fried pork bun). So tasty and so juicy.

Are you still in Shanghai?

With the lockdown, I am wondering have the skies there cleared up in Shanghai… People in Delhi can see the Himalayas now.

Hey @user_not_found welcome!

Yes, I reckon the air would be much clear with less smog!

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, @OliverKIWI ! It is great to learn that you spent whole 4 years in Shanghai! One can say that you are like a local now. I have been there for 3-4 days only back in 2015.

Just as you, my favorite dish from Shanghai is exactly the 生煎馒头 (sheng jian mantou). I remember I couldn’t stop eating this type of dumplings as they are so juicy and savory. I even prefer them more than sweets.

Here is a photo of mine that I have of this delicacy.

@Velvel , do you like this type of food?

I started now dreaming of my life in China, @OliverKIWI .

I honestly prefer 宽面条 such as Biangbiang mian, which are my favorite top 1 type of noodles. Have you ever tried them? They are typical for Xi’an.

I am really curious to learn more about your life in China. I hope to see more posts about your life and experience from there, he-he-he. :innocent:

No, I’m not in Shanghai. I visited Shanghai last October. Yes, I also like Sheng Jian Man Tou.

While you were in Shanghai, have you ever visited Shanghai Disneyland?

If @TsekoV started dreaming of his life in China, now I started longing for the authentic foods in China with an affordable price, too :yum:

We are looking forward to your another story while you lived in Shanghai.

I am now living in New Zealand - for over 20 years. My parents and brother are still in Shenzhen. I am from Wuhan initially. yes, Wuhan! I visited Wuhan last July. Seemed all good, now everything has been changed. The pandemic has taken such a toll on the world. I was devastated and shattered. Thank you! @TsekoV
