“Kapalmuks” is a Filipino idiomatic expression which is derived from the contraction of two words, “kapal” (thick) and “mukha” (face). It literally translates to “thick face” which is a derogatory term to mean “shameless.”
Well, “kapalmuks” take on a new and positive meaning as the name of a popular food offering from the local restaurant, Pepeton’s.
Basically, “kapalmuks” is deep fried pig face. I’ll let that sink in for a moment, LOL!
Pepeton’s is, by no means, the first to “invent” and offer the popular cholesterol-laden dish but it is the first to christen the dish as such.
Happy eating!
