In India, stepwells were mostly built to store rainwater and were constructed as royal summer retreats during the summer. This beautiful was serving the purpose. It’s located in the Bada Imambara campus. It’s easily accessible from every corner of the City.

This magnificent stepwell was designed by the famous architect Kifayat-Ullah and is a fine example of Indo Islamic architecture. Its entrance is grand and double arched. The stairs lead down to the water level. There is a five-storey structure around the stepwell with many arched windows and interconnected corridors. The ornamentation is done with plastering on Lakhori bricks structure.

A special feature of the Shahi Baoli stepwell is that visitors can stand at the entrance of the building and see their reflections on the water of the well.

It remains open for the tourists from 10 am to 6 pm. A nominal ticket is charged guided tour is also available as this premise three significant architectural monuments. It’s a very popular tourists attraction.
