Set business location at actual site or access road location?

I am trying to add my company’s natural gas compressor stations to google maps for easier access and am running into some issues. These stations are in rural areas and have long access roads. If I set the pin location to the actual station coordinates, navigation might lead one an incorrect route (to whichever point on a road that is closest to the pin).

I think the correct solution is to set the pin for these station at the beginning of the private access road. That way one can properly navigate to site. Is this the standard way of approaching something like this or is there another way I should be submitting these edits?

Hello @gmyers176

Your problem is sensible.

Nevertheless, this forum is for volunteer local guides and not for the business owners.

You will have to refer your question to Google My Business forum.

Here are the GMB help pages and you find the GMB forum here.

The correct Location for the pin, according to GMB, on “the middle of your business location”.

This will be easier to do for a POI claimed on Google My Business, as they have more options to manage the place.

However, you should also check if the access road have the correct number on Maps. If not, this can fixed too. In this way the users who wants to reach your place will be correctly guided by the navigation system.

How you may have noticed, I’ve mentioned Google My Business several times. The reason is that you should not be here on behalf of your business, even if you simply wants to help them. According to the Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions : “Organizations, brands, and businesses are not eligible for the Program.”, exactly because the Businesses have a specific place where to search for help.

I’ve provided all the links in my reply
