"Server error, please try again later" message while trying to edit places.

I am experiencing “Server error, please try again later”, whenever I try to edit something on map, I can’t make any edits on map. Can you please suggest me how to resolve this issue.?

The error can happen when the internet connection is unstable.
Nevertheless, to know the exact root cause, you will have to provide some more details like: since when are you facing this problem? What’re the Android & Maps version etc.
Nevertheless, please try clearing the app cache and storage data. If that doesn’t resolve the problem, please uninstall & reinstall the app.

If you have access to another device like a desktop or an Apple device please check if the problem persists across platforms. That can also give us some hint as to what could be the cause of your problem.

Hello @C_T ,

I am experiencing this google maps server error, whenever I try to edit something, cleared cache, no help. It only started happening in the last two days on a windows 8.1, pro desktop system. Always worked fine prior to the last two days.

    How do I report this wrong location, and why is the option missing?

Now you are bringing up another issue. To help other local guides to find help via search it is better to keep it simple : one post = one problem.

There are many places on Google Maps that users/local guides are now allowed to edit. All we can do is give feedback.
Use these Steps to send feedback.

One thing though. If you find places through browsing the map I have seen that the Suggest edit option can be missing. So you might try reaching the place via a text search to be sure.

Hi @user_not_found

Both seems to be districts in a city. Such locations are on the list of places we can not edit except through giving feedback.

The list also includes roads, parks, lakes, county borders, rail roads and in sone places bus stops. Think of it this way: local guides can edit points only the ones that are lines or polygons are off limits to us.
