Semlor

Here is the one of my favorite images Semlor “multicolors” it is a Swedish classic that one can eat during fasting period before Easter it is a wheat bun filled with almond paste and cream, they can also be filled with chocolate cream or berries of various kinds. In Sweden, semlor is sold in one hundred between speech before Easter.

These cakes look like eclair, but more colorful. Also eclair has only one type of taste, and these are in many super interesting flavors. I would love to try all of them, but the pink one with the berries are the most interesting for me. In Easter time, Hungarians mostly eat salty things, like egg, ham, scone and vegetables. The typical Easter veggies are green onion and radish.

Thanks for sharing these buns! In Finland we also have ‘semlas’, but we call them ‘laskiaispulla’ or so called ‘fettisdagsbulle’. I’ve only tried the classic with cardamom, almond paste and whipped cream. The other versions look really delicious, do you have a favorite?

Even in Sweden we called them Fettisdagsbulle or Hetvägg.

I like semla with berries best.
