Saying is so easy rather than doing, go on Google search " Kamalakar Anthati " and see the statistics and track record of Google maps, Then only people come to know how hard I worked to reach 201,000 points of Level 10 and that too within 2 years 6 months with all edited better pictures, photo views crossed 128,000,000 ( 128 Million) approximately and I am not deserved to honour?
Hi there, the selection criteria are clearly described on the Connect Live website. The Googlers are unlikely to respond to individual people why yes or why no.
There are no secrets to selection
Consistent high quality contributions on Maps
Run meetups or other community beneficial activities
Be visibly positive and helpful here on Connect
That really all there is too it. Remember to get through you need to be memorable. So to offer you some specific guidance @kamalakaranthati I notice that you’ve made four posts on Connect in two years. Continue making positive well thought out posts with your photos on topics of interest here on Connect and you never know what might come your way next year. @RohitGahlot you’ve only contributed since the time of applications for this year. Many of the people who are going have been actively contributing in some way for years to get recognised.
It is never worth comparing yourself to someone else because you don’t know what that person does that you don’t know about.

How can you know what level the attendees are @ELGOOG no list is published to protect the privacy of those who don’t want people to know they are going. Only those (like me) who have chosen to reveal that they are going are visible. Many many more are silent. I know for certain there were level 5’s at last year’s event.
Sir @PaulPavlinovich as you said that I started contribution since the connect then I would like to correct you.
I’m contributing in Google Maps Since 2012 secondly from the ID which I have applied from that I’m contributing since 2015. Please check again on Google Maps.
And I have trained my neighbors too to post photos on Google Maps it’s always fun to meet and guide people.
Here people also talk about diversity but nothing happened as the same person is selected from India who partly contributed to Google Maps after the Connect 2018.
You’ll not find them all @ELGOOG at each of the previous year’s events I’ve met people who I knew and was not aware that they were going. Not everyone is comfortable saying they are going.
Its ok for you to be making a list of the people who have said they are going but please don’t publish it anywhere as that would likely be a violation of the Local Guides Rules (see the privacy section).
But it’s very strange that till 2018 the selected person worked on Google Maps and got selected and later just posting on connect just to get noticed. Then again she got selected without posting much on Google Maps.
But I would like to inform you that this connect Programm is launched for the people are making Google maps More beautiful and eco-friendly so that a relevant customer get information about the business which they are searching on Google Maps.
@ELGOOG (and @PaulPavlinovich as an FYI), I can assure you that the 200 attendees selected represent Levels 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 We will not be releasing a list, but we have people who are “rising stars” just as much as we have Level 10 veterans and that is by design! We believe everyone has something to learn when in the room together. Everyone brings different interests, backgrounds, expertise, and yes, Google Maps levels to the event.
Local Guides who are selected to attend Connect Live (previously the Local Guides Summit) must demonstrate year-over-year sustained commitment to the Local Guides program. That could mean hosting a meet-up for the first time after Connect Live. It could mean putting a skill learned at Connect Live, like creating lists, to great use. It could mean going from a passive contributor on Connect to writing posts on Connect every week. It could mean advancing Google Maps levels after attending the event. In short, there’s no guaranteed way to be selected more than once. Just like any other applicant, past attendees must take care to submit stellar applications that highlight how awesome they are.
I don’t think anyone truly knows the behind-the-scenes of getting selected (other than what has been highlighted throughout the process), but I do know there has been a strong emphasis on consistency, authenticity and creating quality content, and being engaged in the community - both digitally (with Google Maps, social media, & Connect) and physically (with meetups and events).
While my engagement on the Google Map is not where I would like to be now, I do make sure that whenever I write reviews, it’s substantial and helpful. I say this to say that I am very grateful that the application process is diverse and has several criteria to promote a well-rounded local guide.
I don’t know if this helps this, but I do hope you find clarity in the process.
As written many times, being active on Google Maps doesn’t mean having the right to attend automatically the summit. Also being active on Connect is important, hosting meetups… there are so many ways to be an active Local Guide. Also, contributing “in order to go to the summit” seems honestly a bad way to intend the Local Guides program and I think Google will surely care about who goes to the summit because of a real passion, and who think the summit as “a perk Google has to give to people who are active contributors”.
Honestly, I don’t even see the sense of analyzing the contributions of chosen people, like if there is a scandal to discover or like if there is need to be “judges of the judges”… but this is my personal opinion
