Secret Local Stories

Did you know there was a mud lagoon in San José, Costa Rica? Yes, now it is called Parque España.

Did you know that in front of that square, there is a school built entirely with steel that was brought from Europe? And that part of that steel come from the cannons used the the Battle Of Waterloo?

That’s what I love Google Maps. It is a tool that would let people know about the history hidden in our cities. Everytime I visit San José (now, I live there) I remember all those stories and make me fall in love with it. And now, I want people to fall in love with this estrange city: we have modern architecture ( Art Deco, Brutalism, Art Noveau, Bizantine architecture, colonial buildings) a lot of museums, cheap food, you can go to volcanoes in less than one hour or to the beach in 2 hours, and it is, pretty much, available for everyone; but sometimes we forget that our latinamerican cities have a lot of history that should be rescued, and Google Maps is an amazing tool for that.

Hopefully, I will keep posting and becoming a strong member of this community!
