SECRET DINING @ ILE EROS

In my quest not to end 2019 on a drab note, I sought out something fun and interesting to partake in. The introvert in me wanted to stay home and read or just roll from one end of my bed to another while the other part of me (not an extrovert in any way, but the bored part of me) desired for one last outing to crown the year in all its glory. Courtesy of Enjoy Ng, I signed up for the Secret Dining event and did not regret it. Secret Dining involves paying for a chance to partake in an experience where participants are taken to a location, a restaurant, where they are treated to food and drink while interacting with strangers and playing games.

This was the event that was held on the 28th of December 2019 at Ile Eros. We were treated to a 4-course meal, games and light music while getting to know each other under the comfortable and calm ambiance of the restaurant. Located in Lekki 1, Ile Eros is a cozy and upscale place that is still homely in all aspects.

Firstly, I treated myself to a Roselle which is a mocktail made from Hibiscus leaves and a variation of the popularly known Zobo drink that we take here. It was followed by the regular Chapman after the first round of introductory games that served to break the ice for us.

As the games were rounding up, they were soon followed by the first course of Puff Puff, Beef, Shrimp and Chicken. The fluffy puff puff was heavenly with a few having surprising fillings while the other balls were simply scrumptious.

The second course of Dambunama rolls with Pepperjam kinds reminded me of spring rolls but on a whole new level.

The third course, and main dish, was Pineapple Habanero Prawns and Truffle Jollof. As a Jollof lover, this was simply awesome with the bits of plantain (dodo) in the rice and the prawns were delicious! I did not really enjoy the pineapple dip/spread as it was a bit too sweet for me. There was no talking in the room by this time because everyone was eager and hungry (Smile).

Desert was Ice cream, potato candy, and Brownie. Not a brownie fan so that was basically untouched while the candy and ice cream went hand in hand awesomely. Washed down with the jug of chapman, I was beautifully exhausted by the time we were done and eagerly looking forward to the next one. Serving as an opportunity to visit new places, the secret dining experience is one that would surely be around for quite a long time.

Cheers to good food and friendships made!
